Company Description:

Insight Economics is a leading economic consulting firm that provides expert analysis in legal and business settings. Our consulting team works on complex and interesting projects with top-tier law firms and industry-leading clients, from growing businesses to Fortune 500 companies to leading universities across a variety of industries. Our work includes analysis of economic valuation and damages in matters involving intellectual property, damages, competition, antitrust, and much more. Our clients demand consistently excellent, in-depth and timely analysis, expressed in a clear and persuasive way. They depend on us to distill complex issues and communicate our results effectively in courtrooms and boardrooms across the country. Insight’s work is deeply rooted in a commitment to expertise and excellence by all team members at every level.  Our team is our greatest resource, and we benefit collectively through skill development, growth opportunities, and mentorship.

About the role:

A significant percentage of our work involves litigation consulting, which entails providing support to attorneys and their clients involved in legal disputes, primarily through expert opinions offered in detailed written reports and testimony at trial. The expert report aims to assist attorneys, judges, and juries in understanding complex economic issues related to the case. We rigorously apply our economic expertise in areas such as case analysis, strategy development, and presentation of economic theory and complex data analysis. Our matters typically involve high-stakes disputes relating to economic harm, competitive conditions, efficiency and public interest, and valuation, among other issues. Our consultants provide critical support to Insight experts by reviewing relevant case evidence (business documents and witness testimony), analyzing complex data sets, performing statistical and quantitative analysis, and developing written reports and supporting exhibits. Consultants also assist with preparation for questioning under oath at depositions and trials, among other litigation-related projects. This structured summer internship is designed for high-performing rising seniors interested in applied economic analysis, antitrust, competition, and litigation support. Interns will gain hands-on experience in economic consulting by contributing to active casework if and when available. If casework is limited, interns will work on a detailed hypothetical case study designed to simulate real-world litigation consulting projects and analytical challenges. Depending on the summer workload at Insight, the internship may combine both active casework and case study assignments, providing a well-rounded view of the consulting process and the role of economic experts in litigation.
