Charles Konkolics graduated as a Morehead-Cain Scholar and Honors Laureate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning highest distinction in both Economics and Business Administration. During his time at Carolina, Charles wrote a senior honors thesis titled “When Organizations Deviate: Leadership Selection Surprises and Performance Consequences” and was awarded highest honors for his work applying econometric methods in his research. He also served as a teaching and research assistant at the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Prior to joining Insight Economics, Charles worked for a community foundation in Colorado Springs where he evaluated grant making priorities and identified major needs across the city. He then worked for the Centre for Sustainable Finance in New Zealand, conducting high level research on financial developments globally. Charles later moved into venture capital, evaluating early-stage startups in Chicago. Across all these experiences, Charles has enjoyed applying rigorous, data-driven analysis to real world decisions.
Outside of his professional work, Charles co-founded and led UNC’s juggling club, performing for ESPN, halftime shows, and a range of other events. He also enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and cooking for friends.
