Gabriella Olavarría is an economic consultant with experience in intellectual property, antitrust, and trade secret matters across a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecommunications, semiconductors, and building materials. Her work has included economic analyses of reasonable royalties, lost profits, market-based valuation approaches, irreparable harm, alleged anticompetitive conduct, and statutory considerations in investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission.

- Evaluated patent damages, including reasonable royalty and lost profits analyses, in matters involving pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and telecommunications technologies.
- Analyzed allegations of price fixing in the generic pharmaceutical industry and assisted in evaluating and rebutting expert economic opinions and regression analyses concerning the alleged effects of a conspiracy.
- Assessed economic and statutory considerations relevant to requested exclusionary relief in investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission, including matters involving imported products and semiconductor technologies.
- Analyzed the economic considerations relevant to patent damages involving telecommunications technologies, including reasonable royalty analyses using income- and market-based approaches.
- Assisted with economic analyses relating to alleged trade secret misappropriation.
Prior to joining Insight Economics, Ms. Olavarría gained experience across the legal, policy, and research sectors. She supported investigations into police misconduct at the San Francisco Department of Police Accountability, interned in the Domestic Violence Unit of the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, and conducted cross-national economic research on gender pay gaps at the Anker Research Institute.
Ms. Olavarría graduated summa cum laude from Wellesley College with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics. While at Wellesley, she completed a senior thesis titled “Legally Citizens, Culturally Immigrants: Political Participation Among Mainland Puerto Ricans” and received the 2025 Phillips Bradley–Louise Overacker Prize in American Politics or Law for her legal research on pretrial detainee protections.
